Parodies

After much research into Annie Leibovitz' - The Sopranos I decided it would be very interesting to look into parodies of The Last Supper.
Below are some examples.


The first of which is The Simpsons

This image is set in Moe's Tavern, A popular place for Homer (The centre character) to go to, from the episode called 'Thank God Its Doomsday', However this image only has 9 characters (acting as the deciples) not the original 13 as with the Da Vinci Image. This for me creates many issues as two of the characters within the image are not characters that I have seen before.


Mickey Mouse's - Last Supper

This image is by pop artist Ron English.
I really like this parody as I believe it was cleaverly thought out, as the Disney characters are seperated from the Warner Bros characters, All of which are looking to Mickey Mouse (being the first cartoon superstar) as Jesus.


House - Last Supper - Promotional Photograph

This image was created for season four of House. Personally this is one of my fouvourite parodies so far. The image shows the cast members set in an operating room, using a patient as the operating table, mimicing Dav Vinci's original perfectly. You may notice that There is no Judas in this photograph, but with this being a promotion for a new series it may not be a good idea for the show to announce who is going to be the 'Judas' of the show for that series, therefore i believe this was tactfully created. This said I like the way that there are still thirteen characters within the photograph as with the original.
